How to Prepare for Facebook Newsfeed Changes

Facebook will be undergoing a major change soon. Mark Zuckerberg recently added a Facebook post stating, “One of the most requested features for Facebook is to make sure people don’t miss friends’ posts. So today we’re launching a Feeds tab where you can see posts from your friends, groups, Pages, and more separately in chronological order”.

This feature is similar to the Instagram Reels feature where you, as the user, experience a feed of content from the accounts you follow, delivering a personalized experience.

So, where are your friends? You will find them in a tab called Feeds. This tab, however, will be a separate tab from the “Home tab”. The Home tab will continue to recommend content based on the user’s interest. With Facebook making such a huge change, the question remains whether the Facebook community will embrace this direction.

Facebook remains to be a top traffic source for creators and publishers. But what do these changes mean to these creators? Here are a few tips to prepare for Facebook Newsfeed changes:

Diversify Traffic Sources

One of the ways to drive more traffic to your Facebook page is to share your posts and pages on other social media platforms. Expand your mailing and investigate other traffic sources to avoid having all your eggs in one basket. Creators should use all their traffic sources to offer a diverse flow of traffic. Other ways you can diversify your traffic include:

  • Strengthen your SEO to optimize your content for organic growth
  • Build an email list. Email newsletters remain to be one of the effective ways to grow and engage the audience
  • Paid advertising. Promoting your page through paid advertising is a good way of supplementing your organic boost

Diversify the Type of Content

The new changes will be deprioritizing audio and podcast features. Therefore, if these are the main types of content you create, you will want to explore other types of content to connect with your audience.

Use Videos and Facebook Live

Videos are one of the most effective ways of reaching many people. You will want to make the videos more meaningful to engage with your audience. Live videos are particularly great because they allow you to get instant feedback from your followers. During the live Facebook feed, make a point of asking your viewers some open questions.

Optimize Your Strategy

Your Facebook Engagement rate is a great tool to optimize your strategy. Read the trend and respond to it accordingly. Whichever type of content Facebook will be prioritizing, ensure that you put that into consideration.
