New Website Launch – Baltimore Streetcar Museum
Pink Dog Digital is proud to unveil the new website for the Baltimore Streetcar Museum! This fantastic museum is packed with the history of Baltimore’s public transit system. From videos and photos to restorations of actual streetcars, the Baltimore Streetcar Museum is a love letter to public transportation in the city from days gone by. We were so excited to work on this one and are really pleased with how well the site turned out – we hope you’ll agree!
Site Design
For this site design, we knew that imagery was going to be majorly important in bringing new visitors to the museum. We designed the site with this emphasis in mind. Text on the home page, for example, is short and to the point, allowing for the pictures from the museum to shine through. To help visitors find the museum, a page featuring all of the most important information – hours, tickets, and directions – is first on the navigation bar. We placed a large Google Maps interface halfway down the home page for easy access to directions. A link to a gallery page, upcoming events, and museum rental information comprises most of the rest of the home page.
The Baltimore Streetcar Museum site also has e-commerce functionality built-in, so they can sell museum merchandise online in the future. The site also has a donation section so they can receive contributions. Finally, a members-only section grants access to special sections of the site where current members can view and manage their membership to the museum and access additional benefits.
