Facebook Updates Planned for 2022

Facebook Changes 2022

As the leading social media platform, Facebook is continuously undergoing strategic updates to meet the ever-evolving user interests and preferences to stay competitive and remain a favorite social network destination for many, especially those who rely on social media for marketing purposes.

Continuous improvement is paramount in software development, be it a website or app. Facebook has a team of professionals dedicated to updates to improve the platform’s reliability and user experience. So, since Facebook does these updates continuously, it’s easy to lose track as a user.

Here are some of the major Facebook updates for 2022.

Facebook Updates for 2022

Sending Marketing Messages

Facebook has been an ideal platform for marketers primarily because of its uniqueness and a host of features designed to improve social media marketing efforts. For instance, the inbox is an incredible functionality feature enabling businesses to receive messages from customers across Messenger, Instagram Direct, and website chats.

Recently, Meta announced a new option for the inbox feature that will enable businesses to send promotional messages to multiple customers who opt-in. Users can opt-in to get real-time notifications on product announcements, discounts, launches, and the likes.

Linking Facebook ads and WhatsApp Chat

Meta recently announced a new feature that small businesses can utilize to direct users from Facebook and Instagram ads to WhatsApp to have a conversation. The feature is available on the WhatsApp Business App and aims to enable businesses to create ads and engage their audience faster and more efficiently.

Through the functionality, customers only have to click the “Send Message” option, and they will be redirected to the business’s WhatsApp for further inquiry or a conversation.

Improved Transparency

Facebook has been in the headlines for multiple controversial user privacy and confidentiality issues. Following intense public scrutiny, the platform has recently responded by rolling out new transparency tools for social, political, and electoral ads.

The feature includes disclosing targeting information for ad categories and availing the data to vetted academic researchers. These details will include:

  • Demographic information
  • Budget advertisers dedicate to the target demographic
  • If an advertiser is using custom or lookalike audiences

Monetization Options

The new monetization option is great news for creators. Meta recently announced its plans to incorporate a new virtual reality experience program, Horizon Worlds, into its platform to increase its creators’ activity. The monetization option on the program include:

  • Incentivizing creators with monthly payments for their attempts to achieve certain goals
  • Allowing users to create and sell virtual effects like filters and fashion accessories

Already the company announced setting aside $10 million for the Horizon Creators Fund, but it is only currently available for a few eligible creators in the United States.

Bottom Line

Meta is constantly doing updates to its platforms, including Facebook. Recent times have seen the company introduce new and exciting features around privacy, transparency, creator tools, content monetization, and marketing capabilities.
